Are We Not One

We are not just a mirror image of each other

We are the slaves bound by emotion

Tied with love

Then why Oh why

Can you not give that pain to me

We once were the humans in the myth

With two heads, two torsos, four arms and legs

The envy of Zeus split us in half

With one head, one torso, two arms and legs

Then we were parted

Yet here is the miracle we made beyond the myth

Once again we met and became whole

Yet why one half knows not the pain of another half

She is within me

And I within her

Her joy is my joy

Her happiness is mine also

As her sorrow is mine

The Why does her bodily pain

Remain her own

Only the sorrow echoes in my heart’s aching void
